I so much appreciate this morning’s devotion by Max Lucado:
“It is not our love for God; it is God’s love for us in sending his Son to be the way to take away our sins.” I John 4:10
Please note: salvation is God-given, God-driven, God-empowered, and God-originated. The gift is not from man to God. It is from God to man . . .
Grace is created by God and given to man.
Whenever I think of God pursuing us and taking the initiative, I think of two passages of scripture:
Genesis 3:8 KJ2000 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.
It so blesses my heart to think after I sin that it is God who comes looking for me. It is He who walks through the garden of my heart asking; “Where are you?”
Psalms 23:6 NLT Surely Your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the LORD forever.
Once again it is His unfailing love and His goodness that pursue us – not the other way around.
