“But mark my words; this war will be fought not on the frontier or on some distant battlefield, but amongst us, among our homes. Our children will learn of it with their own eyes, and the innocent will die with the rest of us.”

These words spoken by Mel Gibson’s character Benjamin Martin in the Patriot are truer today than when they were first written. Today a war is raging on all levels of the American battlefield. Battles are being waged at home, at work, in schools, in town hall meetings, in State Governments and in the Federal Government. This war is nothing new, and has been ongoing since the early twentieth century. America’s enemy infiltrated long ago. It has situated itself over the course of the last century within every community across the country, and is currently completing its plans to overtake America.

Our enemy is a dangerous one; one which subconsciously infects the mind and turns even the most ardent lover of liberty against their country. This infectious enemy has seeped into the modern American mind using the philosophy of progress calling itself “Progressivism” when in reality it takes us back to the dictatorship we split from in the Revolution. At a time when the American technological revolution was beginning, Progressives took hold of the American idea of progress and used it to further their liberal agendas, whether Marxist, Socialist, or Radical Black Nationalist, among many other ideologies. While many Americans want a society that accepts “change”, Liberals under the guise of Progressivism, have changed the meaning of the word. Change, progress, innovation, equality, diversity, ect. These are all terms which have been hijacked by the left as well as our government, national history, theology, philosophy, literature, art, and the list can go on and on. Every aspect of our society has been inundated by this liberal thinking. This is the reason why the enemy is so dangerous. It has made itself mainstream, and tempted us to think that its views were okay since it seemed that everyone else was thinking or doing the same thing. Through the media and carefully worded sophistic speeches, Progressives have captured many from all parties both in Washington D.C. and across the country. They have captured politicians, businessmen, teachers, autoworkers, and many other Patriotic Americans.

What is so dangerous about an ideology? Progressives take words that mean one thing to you, and place a secret hidden agenda behind it. They are trying to re-write Webster’s Dictionary. Spinning and twisting words and phrases that seem right, but if thought about, are incredibly dangerous and have massive effects on our lives. Words and ideas if left to our relativistic culture are very dangerous. To a politician representing “change,” this may mean to him that he will change and “remake America” but to some of us it meant “change” in government corruption and spending in D.C.. For a Republican Representative from Southern California who feels that he is representing small business and helping the economy by giving Cash for Clunkers another $2 billion to keep it going, has either been infected with Progressive thoughts on spending, or on the new theory of “abandoning the free market principles to save the free market system.” Words and ideas have the ability to penetrate and ensnare even the most ardent lover of liberty.  This ideological enemy therefore cannot be defeated on the battlefield. It cannot be defeated with a Supreme Court case or an Executive Order. Progressivism is a compilation of ideologies which are infectious and tempting in nature. The Progressives are continually holding out the apple, but it is up to us whether we want to reach out and accept it.

The basic aim of this enemy is the statist goal of controlling the lives of every American. Their most recent attacks in this war are: whether or not you will be taxed on breathing (the Carbon tax), or allowing the government, through GE, to control the temperature of your house; whether or not the government has the right to tell you how to die; whether we should be completely secularized and have our speech silenced on issues of religion; whether you, as a tax payer will be forced to pay for infanticide and having taxpayers pay for the largest expansion of abortion since Roe v. Wade (one of Obama’s advisors believes that you can kill a baby, yes a baby, up until age two because they are not fully socialized into our system); whether the government has the right to control the internet and other means of media to “diversify” the airwaves and media; whether animals are recognized equally with humans under the law (obviously Cass Sunstein has never read the Dei Anima or anything on the soul); and lastly (but definitely not least) whether or not the government has the right to bail out big businesses that simply “cannot fail”, and then leave the small business owner to close their business because they cannot afford to keep their business open in the current economy.

Americans need to wake up. This liberal, radical enemy is one which can only be defeated through proper education, a determined unwavering spirit, and an united America. As in any preparation for battle, one needs to arm and prepare oneself with facts and proper battle strategy and reasoning. To win this war against the liberal left agenda, Americans need to arm themselves with facts about current issues and our history. Then, after placing the facts before yourself, you must go out and educate others of the current war. We need to bring these facts to work, to church, and to the public square in any and every way possible. The media will not spread the message. They have already eaten the apple (and in modern jargon, have drank the Kool-Aid). It is up to us. It is up to you and me to go out and tell our families, our friends, and co-workers the facts of the fight, and to ask them to do the same. We need to call out the Constitutional watchdogs, and demand a Glorious Revolution; an American Glorious Revolution of 2009 and 2010. One which is a war of truth, strength, and most especially one like the Glorious Revolution in England, a transition of power with no bloodshed. We are the Nation, and our representatives in 1788 signed the Constitution which formed our Federal Government. We need to come together not as Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, or Independents. We need to come together as Americans in this war and place public servants into office to serve us, not for us to serve, or continually pay tribute to socially and economically economically. We are not slaves or servants to the government. They serve us.

We, as citizens and inheritors in this country, need to stand up for liberty for our children and for our grandchildren. As Benjamin Martin says, our children will see the war with their own eyes (far more than just the September 8^th address), but in the end, it will be their education. It will begin the reeducation of America, and in the end, Truth and liberty will be victorious and endure. But, one must have an unwavering spirit. You have to trust in yourself but more importantly, we must trust in Divine Providence, and its role in this war. Do not be afraid. The Truth will set us free. Long live the American Republic.
